Spitfire the Musical - Showcase Concert
Spitfire is a brand new musical, making its debut at Charing Cross Theatre, with a showcase of songs from this exciting new show.
Spitfire tells the story of Jenny, her journey of self-determination to become a pilot with the Air Transport Auxiliary in the Second World War, and her relationship with an RAF pilot called George. With the support of her aunt Joy, Jenny yearns to break away from the expectations of others, fly Spitfires, and find freedom, overcoming societal norms, chauvinism, and psychological challenges to reach her goals. Indeed, George has his own physical and mental struggles, which seriously threaten his relationship with Jenny. Friendships are made, and love is found, lost, and regained, set against the tragic consequences of total war.
Laura Pitt-Pulford (Seven Brides for Seven Brothers; Little Miss Sunshine; Sweet Charity) plays Jenny, Louise Dearman (Wicked; Evita; Guys and Dolls) plays the role of Joy, and Jack Reitman (Thrill Me; Amour) plays George. They are joined by Caroline Deverill (Mamma Mia; Sleeping Beauty; This Little Life of Mine), Emile Ruddock (Hamilton; Me and My Girl), Steven Serlin (Heathers; Amour), Imelda Warren-Green (Cinderella; Little Miss Sunshine; The Little Mermaid), and Louise Young (The Marvellous Wonderettes).
Spitfire is written by Steve Darlow (book & lyrics) and Glenn Tollett (music), and is produced by Amanda Faber and the Soldier's Arts Academy. Director Nicola Allpress is joined by Musical Director Chris Hatt (currently the Associate Musical Director for Hamilton).
